World media reacts to ‘The salesman’ Oscar

Different world media outlets have commented on ‘The Salesman’ winning the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.

Several world media outlets have commented on ‘The Salesman’ winning at the Oscars 2017.

The Telegraph wrote “In one of the most poignant moments of the ceremony, ‘The Salesman’ won the foreign language film Oscar, allowing director Asghar Farhadi, who had boycotted the ceremony, to attack Mr. Trump's "inhuman" travel ban in his victory message.”

Another UK-based daily The Guardian considered the victory of Farhadi’s ‘The Salesman’ to be a type of protest by the Academy members against Donald Trump’s policies.

Online newspaper The Independent also highlighted Farhadi’s contribution to the world cinema, saying that “the director made awards history in 2012 when his film, ‘A Separation’, became the first Iranian film to win an Oscar.

In late January, Farhadi declared that he would not attend the Oscars ceremony even if he were granted an exception to President Trump’s visa ban for citizens from Iran and several other predominantly Muslim countries

Iranian movie ‘The Salesman’ directed by Asghar Farhadi has won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.

The movie was competing with ‘Land of Mine’ from Denmark, ‘A Man Called Ove’ from Sweden, ‘Tanna’ from Australia and ‘Toni Erdmann’ from Germany.
